Addy started soccer practice two weeks ago and she was super excited! We practice right behind the middle school next to her school and its not far from us at all which is nice.
Soccer practice was going to be on Tuesday's but it got cancelled due to rain so we had practice the same day I had a hair appointment! It made for an interesting evening but we made it on time! Also my hair dresser ended up braiding Addy's hair for practice!
She loved it and it stayed in the whole game!
Addy and Camden before soccer practice.
Our big girl!
They had the perfect weather for their first practice! Kids rounding up to hear what the coaches had to say and to get directions.
Addy and Allie at practice! These two girls have been together since they were 12 weeks old! They always have so much fun with each other and are truly sweet to one another.
The program has many other teams that practice on the fields at the same time or a half hour later. We practice every week and come June and July we have games every Saturday. Practices last an hour and it's nice to sit back and relax with other parents while the kids practice. Camden loves going there as well! He ran around the first week and was checking out the baseball game going on too. He would just run run run! This past week he chilled a little more and sat on my lap or Justin's.
The first week of practice Addy did well with the drills but when it came time to do a practice game, she froze. Just stood there while everyone else played around her. We felt bad but there was nothing we could do or say for her at that point. She was already anxious and nervous. She came over and sat. We talked to her about practicing and learning the game. That everyone gets nervous and it's ok. She kept saying that she didn't know how to kick or play right. That she wasn't any good. Eventually the kids got in a circle and they played a game. I was able to get her to join back in that and told her she can try again next week but her team mates need her for all activities. So she ran over and sat.
After the practice was over she wanted me to talk to her coach. I had Addy talk to her how she was feeling since she needs to be able to communicate to them as well. She told her what happened and her coach was super sweet about it. She explained that lot's of kids get nervous about playing and that as a team they help each other out. At that point some of the other kids heard what was going on and they came over to tell Addy that they thought she practiced very well. That she kicked the ball good and was good at running. That really helped boost her confidence and made Justin and I so happy! They were so cute and sweet!
The next week Addy tried much harder and practiced the whole time. She may not have gotten the ball a whole lot during the practice game but she kept up with her team and ran with them back and forth. So she looked just like every one else.
We will continue to work on practicing at home and hopefully confidence will continue to grow each week!
Love,
Jamie Lynne
