Yesturay at 5:30 pm, Little Lanie lost her battle to cancer. She was 5 years old and was diagnosed in October 2011. She was in Pittsburgh for another round of chemo and she got really sick. She caught a pretty normal cold for most of us but with her not having an immune system, it just took over. The past week has been very hard on everyone and her parents never left her side. Her mom was in the ICU for every procedure. She started bleeding internally, her liver wasn't functioning properly, they finally got a line in her main artery in her leg, and started plasma exchanges. They weren't working, her body started filling up with more fluid, especially in her lungs. They could't get a chest tube in so they had to use a needle to get fluid out of her lungs. Her kidney's stopped working and dialysis wasn't working. The family was preparing to say goodbye. They all were there. Lanie's heart was the only organ that was still functioning. She was a fighter and so many prayers were being heard but God didn't create her to live like that. He wanted her home, where she could be happy and free of cancer/pain. Her little lungs filled with blood and her parents told them to make her comfortable. She was surrounded by all of her family when she went to Heaven. It's heartbreaking for all.

Jamie my prayers are with them, I know what it's like to lose a baby and I can't even begin to imagine their pain with the loss of their sweet Lanie. She is safe and comforted by the Lord now.
