Nt scan/prenatal appt

July 24th we had our first major sono and meeting with our dr. We got to see the dr first which helped ease my fears because we got to hear the heartbeat before we had the sono. I will always be somewhat nervous going into a sono given my history. It's scary.

We got to hear babies heartbeat and it was such a sweet sound! We were do thrilled to hear it. We then went to our sono where they go over the whole baby. They make sure all limbs are present, brain, and they check the nasal bone and spinal fluid. Which can be markers for down syndrome. Everything checked out beautifully and we got to watch our baby on the screen for a good 30 minutes!

The baby was so active and happy! The sono tech even mentioned to us the possibility of the baby being a boy! Yikes!! We know it's early but I know a few ladies that have been told the gender at 12 weeks. So we will see officially in about 7 weeks!

We were told that the heart rate was 170 and that the baby was measuring ahead already! I measured ahead with Addyson too but that didn't happen until after 20 weeks. I guess I grow them a little big but healthy!

Here is our baby at 12 weeks 3 days!  (measuring 13 weeks 1 day)
Addyson, the big proud big sister!  She is starting to really get it now that she saw the baby in the pictures.  She was pointing and showing Justin that the baby was rubbing its eyes!  She is going to be such a great big sister.  She kisses my belly everyday and says hi to the baby!  She continues to talk about helping too.  My heart melts just thinking of her being a big sister!

Here is what 12 weeks looks like!

Things are changing fast. You’re reaching the home stretch of the first trimester (we know, finally!) at 12 weeks which means your hormones are likely to tone things down a bit -- which might make you feel a little less emotional! And it will probably help the symptoms subside a bit, too. One warning though: your morning sickness and fatigue might get replaced by headaches and dizziness. But we think that’s a reasonable trade-off. The other big change? Baby’s almost done developing her body’s important systems and parts, which means, it’s mostly about getting bigger and more mature from here on out. Around week 12, you might want to know more about baby, so you’re probably having genetic testing done to determine her risk of birth defects or other problems. This can be a little scary -- and confusing -- so be sure to ask your OB plenty of questions, and know that it’s much more likely baby’s A-OK than anything else.

your baby's the size of a plum!
The average fetus at 12 weeks is about 2.1 inches long and .49 ounces. Now that she's got pretty much all her parts, her main job is to keep on growing.

Love,
Jamie Lynne
